Fairfield Man Charged In Discovery Of Explosives In House

A Fairfield resident today was charged with illegal possession of explosives, manufacturing bombs, and reckless endangerment.

The items were found in Joseph Callahan’s Bronson Road home, after he called police in a confused state, and mistakenly reported that he had been burglarized.

Police responded, and found the explosives.  He said he used them in his rocketry hobby.

Police say Callahan is cooperating with efforts to make safe the house, and the material that was removed.

The 69-year-old is due in court October 16.
