I think it is outrageous that the Connecticut Dept. of Environment and Energy, better known as the DEEP has recently shot and killed a moose and a bear in our communities. These nice non-threatening animals were not hurting or threatening anyone , and the DEEP has the nerve to say they “euthanized” them , baloney, they shot them period, they were not hurt or in pain. But I have an interesting and serious proposal to save these beautiful animals from the DEEP……name them ! Yes, give them a pet name, in New Milford the residents named the wandering moose “Marty” and guess what ? He was not killed by the DEEP, but in New Britain the unnamed moose was shot because he was” a threat” ? It’s moose mating season and they are out in full force, so here is my plan. If you spot a moose or a bear “call it in”. Call me on the show and call the local newspaper, most importantly you get to name him…it should rhythm , either with moose, [ Marty the moose] [ Betsy the bear] or maybe rhythm with your town’s name . Once the moose or bear gets a “pet name” the chances of DEEP shooting it are reduced dramatically. How could these bueracrats kill “Roxbury Rosie” the local moose or “Southbury Sam “ the non-threatening bear looking in your garbage cans? I usually like to kid and make fun but I am serious, I think this plan will work !!
