HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ A family of three was the first to enroll in Connecticut’s online health insurance exchange.
Access Health CT sent a tweet shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday, confirming the family had been signed up on the first day of open enrollment, which runs through March 31.
Individuals need to enroll by Dec. 15 to get coverage by Jan. 1.
Kevin Counihan, the exchange’s CEO, has warned there will likely be issues with the computer system as individuals and small businesses begin using the website to browse and sign up for health insurance coverage.
While testing has been conducted in recent months, Counihan said it is “likely that additional errors will continue to be discovered.”
Exchange officials have a target of enrolling about 100,000 people.
