Local, state and federal law enforcement officials today took fifty-six people into custody as part of a sweep of people facing outstanding criminal charges.
Middlesex States Attorney Pete McShane says the operation began at 5 am.
“Our focus was to arrest people on misdemeanor and felony warrants, with a focus on sexual assault, violation of probation, and more serious felonies like possession of narcotics, and escape,” McShane said.
McShane says one woman fainted, when authorities arrived at her home at 5:05 in the morning.
The arrests included a man being sought in California on burglary and assault weapon charges.
Three people were captured, who are suspected of involvement in hotel robberies in Cromwell. Authorities say more arrests may be coming in that investigation.
The law enforcement roundup was named Operation Archangel, in honor of the patron saint of police officers. In many Christian traditions, his feast day was yesterday.
