Branford Man Facing Drug, Weapons Charges

Branford police are charging a 38-year-old town man after they say he was found to have marijuana and weapons in his home.

Authorities say it started with a search of William Cooper’s Leetes Island Road home on August 30 by police agents with the DEA’s New Haven Office of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Drug Task Force.

Detectives allegedly found steroids, rifles, ammunition, inert hand grenades, and a marijuana cultivation system.

Cooper is being held on $25,000 bond.

He faces a variety of charges, including possession of marijuana greater than four ounces, possession with intent to sell, cultivating of more than a kilo of marijuana, operating a drug factory, and possession of a controlled substance.

Cooper has an October 1 court date in New Haven.
