There will be some great political theater in the U.S. Senate over the next few days but in the end Mathematics wins. The conservative Republicans in the Senate will have their day but not the votes. Obamacare will be funded and the government will not shut down. Tune in today and I will explain the process. Extending the debt ceiling later in the month could be a different story. Bottom line problem is that it is impossible to govern when you have control of just one leg of the government stool, the Republicans have the majority in the House of Representatives but not the Senate or White House, therefore almost impossible to effect change. Having said that , the Republicans should be doing everything they can to define these complex issues to the American people and define themselves in preparation for the next election. Winning the Senate and /or the White House will allow them to govern, right now it will be a lot of bluster, infighting and positioning by individual politicians. There may be a time when the American people will repeal Obamacare, but it has been my experience that the majority of people in America must first see and feel the ill effects of the legislation before they respond, right now people are just expecting the worst, or are understandably confused. No question resentment and disgust is building against Congress but are we willing to clean house and start over?
