Police Return California Man To Connecticut To Face Kidnap Charges

A California man been arrested in Connecticut after waiving extradition from California in a case involving last month’s kidnapping of a 14-year-old girl.

The FBI helped Hamden police identify a California telephone number which led them to 28-year-old Nathan Salas.  Authorities say he had met the teen online.  She left a suicide note for her parents and flew cross-country with him.

Salas said at the time he thought he was helping her escape an abusive situation.

A Hamden detective and an investigator flew to California  to pick up Salas,  and returned to Connecticut early Friday morning.
