WHAT’S AT STAKE
Michigan is trying to rebound from a close call against Akron with a good showing in its first road game of the season. The Huskies are trying to avoid an 0-3 start at home after losses to Towson out of the Football Championship subdivision and Maryland. A loss would turn the heat on head coach Paul Pasqualoni, who is trying to avoid a third straight losing season at UConn.
Connecticut’s running game against Michigan’s rush defense. The Huskies are averaging 57.5 yards on the ground per game, while Michigan has given up an average of 89.7. Connecticut must be able to get junior tailback Lyle McCombs involved in the game to control the clock and keep the Wolverines high-powered offense off the field. McCombs rushed for 1,151 yards as a freshman, but has seen his production steadily decline since then.
