Man Charged In Danbury Accident

Charges have been filed against a Danbury man who was involved in an accident that left a pedestrian injured Wednesday evening.

Just after 7:30 p.m., police say Howard Ward was driving a Dodge Durango at the intersection of Main and Rose Streets.

According to police, Ward apparently did not see Lorenzo Mateo crossing Rose Street in the crosswalk until it was too late.

Mateo was taken to Danbury Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

Ward faces charges of operating under suspension, failure to grant the right of way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, and failure to exercise care to avoid a pedestrian.

The accident is still under investigation.
