Electric Boat Workers Reject Union

GROTON, Conn. (AP) _ Security officers at submarine maker Electric Boat have rejected establishing a union.

The Day of New London reports (http://bit.ly/18BX7Gj ) that the Security, Police and Fire Professionals of America said employees voted 45-33 on Wednesday against establishing the union as their bargaining representative.

Dwayne Phillips, the union’s director at large, said the election was about choice and that the union respects the choice made by security officers.

Robert H. Nardone, vice president for human resources and administration at Electric Boat, said the subsidiary of General Dynamics Corp. is pleased by the election results and looks forward to continuing a direct working relationship with security officers.
