Man Charged In Double Fatal New Haven Crash

New Haven police have a suspect in custody in connection with a double fatal accident from earlier this summer.

Twenty-seven-year-old Tyrese Worthy is charged in the June 20 crash that left Billy Ray Yancy, Jr. and Derand Lane dead.

According to police, Worthy was high on PCP at the time of the crash.

Investigators estimated he was traveling 98 miles per hour when the car went airborne and hit a steel canopy at a gas station on Whalley Avenue and Amity Road.

Worthy faces counts of manslaughter, reckless driving, misconduct with a motor vehicle and operating under the influence.

Bond has been set at $250,000.
