Three schools in Manchester were “locked down” for a time Friday afternoon after a report of police activity in the neighborhood.

Manchester school officials say students at the Verplanck School on Olcott Street were in lockdown for a time this afternoon unbtilk the kindergarten-to-fifth graders  were allowed to leave in what the school calls a “controlled dismissal.”

On the other side of Center Street,  at Cheney Tech and East Catholic High School, most  students had already been dismissed,  but those on sports teams were brought into the building,  which was then locked down until dismissal.
