Another Connecticut Serviceman Killed In Afghanistan

New Fairfield officials say a 22-year-old man serving in the U.S. Air National Guard in Afghanistan has died in the line of duty.

The family of Staff Sgt. Todd “TJ” Lobraico was notified Friday.

Lobraico’s father is a police officer in Stamford. Lobraico was a 2008 graduate of New Fairfield High School and a member of the New York Air National Guard.

New Fairfield First Selectman Susan Chapman says a gathering Sunday evening to remember victims of the September 11, 2001,  terror attacks will be preceded by a candlelight vigil in Lobraico’s honor.

Governor Malloy called it a “sad reminder that hundreds of Connecticut military men and women are still in danger overseas” even as U.S. involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan winds down.  He ordered Connecticut and U.S. flags to fly at half staff until Staff Sgt. Lobraico’s burial.
