Newington’s Housing Authority Wednesday night said “too bad” essentially to a World War II veteran fighting an eviction notice.
Ninety-year-old Andy Nowicki and his 90-year-old wife are being kicked out of their senior living home because he violates a new smoking requirement, by lighting up too close to the breezeway of his apartment.
Nowicki can’t get farther away because he can barely walk and his wife Leona has advanced Alzheimer’s.
Meanwhile, Wethersfield State Senator Paul Doyle continues to fight the case Pro bono.
He says he hopes a compromise can be worked out at a housing court date September 17.
