BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) _ A watchdog group alleges that absentee ballots have been abused in Bridgeport’s Board of Education election set for Sept. 10.

The Connecticut Citizen Action Group, city residents and elected officials say they will file a complaint Tuesday at City Hall.

The Connecticut Post reports that Citizen Action Group executive director Tom Swan is demanding an investigation.

Citizen Action Group says election workers have improperly processed absentee ballots, paid campaign workers have marked ballots, elderly voters were threatened to sign absentee ballot applications, false information has been deliberately given and unidentified help has been given to voters to fill out ballots.

The group also wants Election Day monitors at polling places and the Registrar of Voters office.

A spokesman for the Board of Education did not immediately return a call seeking comment Tuesday morning.
