HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Hartford Mayor Pedro Segarra says a series of problems at the city’s emergency dispatch center has prompted him to launch an investigation.
Segarra told WVIT-TV (http://bit.ly/17JwNvd ) on Tuesday that the review will analyze the center’s operations and employees. He says the problems cannot continue and he may order major changes.
The troubles include a dispatcher sending police to a wrong address for reported gunshots last week, even though the 911 caller provided the correct location. Officers went to the wrong address and found nothing, but a body was found in a yard the next morning.
Another dispatcher made a racial slur over a police radio in July.
And two years ago, a dispatcher made a mistake and directed officers away from a home where a body was found months later.
