Driver Comes Forward In Theft Of Ad Sign Which Left Clerk Injured

Shelton Police say a 19-year-old man has come forward,  admitting he was the driver in an incident Tuesday at a convenience store which left the clerk in critical condition.   Police say they have made no arrest in the investigation.

The 36-year-old clerk remains in critical condition after he was dragged by the SUV and hit his head when he tried to stop the three people in the vehicle from stealing advertising posters featuring actor David Hasselhoff.  Hundreds of the posters have been taken from Cumberland Farms stores around the region in recent weeks.  They advertise the store’s iced coffee — dubbed “Iced Hoffee.”

Shelton police say their investigation is continuing.
