Clerk Critical After Robbery: Tried To Protect David Hasselhoff Posters

A Shelton store clerk was critically injured during an early morning robbery this morning while trying to protect  two “David Hasselhoff” posters in the store’s parking lot.

Police say they received the call around 1:15 to the River Road Cumberland Farms.

They say an SUV pulled into the lot and a person inside got out and stole the  pair of store signs from a light pole.

When confronted by the clerk, the driver took off, dragging the 36-year old man.

The victim was spun around and flipped backward, landing on his head.

He was rushed to Bridgeport Hospital and is listed in critical condition.

Detectives are reviewing a surveilance video and have interviewed witnesses.

They say two men and a woman are being sought.

The getaway vehicle was last seen heading toward Stratford.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Shelton police at (203) 924-1544.

The signs have been a popular target for thieves this summer.  See the story from CBS New York.
