3 Injured In Wrong-Way Highway Crash In Waterbury

WATERBURY, Conn. (AP)   State police say three people were injured in a wrong-way crash on Route 8 in Waterbury.

Troopers say a car travelling on the northbound side of the highway near exit 30 was struck by a southbound car shortly after 3:30 a.m. Sunday. All northbound lanes were closed for more than two hours.

A police report obtained by the Republican-American (http://bit.ly/17Wn2si ) says the driver of the car that was going the wrong way, 22-year-old Eltany Morals of Stratford, was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries.

Police say the 60-year-old driver of the other car suffered lacerations and bruises, while a 22-year-old passenger in his car has minor injuries. Both were taken to a local hospital.

State police are investigating the crash and whether charges are warranted.
