Gov. Malloy To Welcome Home Conn. Guard Unit

EAST GRANBY, Conn. (AP) — Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman are welcoming home a Connecticut National Guard unit.

Both officials are scheduled to greet about 160 members of the 1048th Transportation Company of Stratford, which is returning from Afghanistan. A welcoming ceremony is planned for Thursday at noon at the Bradley Air National Guard Base in East Granby.

Malloy had attended a sending off ceremony for the soldiers last September at the William A. O’Neill Armory in Hartford.

The members of the transportation company were tasked with moving cargo, including refrigerated goods and bulk water, while serving in Afghanistan. It was their second deployment.
