Another round of job cuts at Pratt and Whitney, as the company announces a restructuring of the salaried workforce.
In a statement today, Pratt says the change affects about 400 jobs, effective immediately, with roughly 200 of those in Connecticut. All are described as salaried positions, but the specific job descriptions or locations were not given.
The move comes on the heels of a voluntary separation program earlier this year. Pratt says it’s pleased with the number who chose to accept that package, but says further reductions are necessary. 575 workers accepted the voluntary separation package, most of them last month, Those in this latest round will receive severance packages, outplacement, continuation of group insurance, and other benefits.
The company called its long-term outlook “very bright,” but went on to say in the statement that to secure that bright future, it’s necessary to address what it called “near-term challenges.”
