Summer Utility Assistance Program Available For Needy Residents

As it does during the cold weather months, Bloomfield-based Operation Fuel has begun a limited summer assistance program.

Executive Director Pat Wrice says those eligible can apply for one-time grants of $500 to go toward unpaid gas and electric bills, preventing summertime shutoffs.

Wrice says this could help struggling families catch up since the winter moratorium doesn’t begin until November.

She says those eligible can call Infoline at 211 for additional information.

Wrice says about a half-million-dollars is available to fund the program, which runs through October 31.
