Prison Employee Pleads Guilty To Sexual Abuse Of Inmate

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) _ Prosecutors say a prison employee has pleaded guilty to sexual abuse of an inmate in Danbury.

The U.S. Attorney’s office says 45-year-old Steven Wolff of the Bronx, N.Y., pleaded guilty Tuesday in Bridgeport to sexual abuse of a ward.

Authorities say Wolff, while employed as a utilities systems repair operator foreman by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, engaged in sexual acts with a female inmate at the prison.

Prosecutors say on multiple occasions in 2011, Wolff and the victim met in the boiler area and engaged in sexual intercourse.  They say

Wolff provided contraband including hair dye, candy, greeting cards and over-the-counter medication to the inmate and contraband to another inmate who acted as a lookout.

Wolff faces up to 15 years in prison when he is sentenced Oct. 29.
