Man Charged In New Fairfield Bank Job

State police made quick work of a bank robbery investigation yesterday in New Fairfield.

Troopers were alerted to an active alarm at the Webster Bank on Brush Hill Road a little before five p.m.

They say a lone, male suspect identified as Robert Rustigan of New Fairfield handed a teller a note demanding money.  no weapon was shown and no injuries were reported.

Troopers say they received a tip from a witness who’d snapped a picture of the suspect vehicle, thinking the 53-year-old Rustigan was acting suspicious.

Detectives then tracked the vehicle to Rustigan’s home.  He was treated at Danbury Hospital for knee scrapes suffered during the arrest.

Rustigan is charged robbery, larceny, breach of peace, and threatening.

He’s being held on $50,000 bond and is due in Danbury Superior Court Monday.
