The White House announced today that Connecticut’s Commissioner of Veterans Affairs has been nominated to be Assistant Secretary of Veterans Affairs at the federal Veterans Administration.  She’d replace Raul Perea-Henze at the V-A as Assistant Secretary for Policy and Planning.

Schwartz  was an Air Force nurse from 1968 to 1986  and has headed Connecticut’s Department since 2003.

Governor Malloy praised the selection,  saying as commissioner she has been a strong and important voice for veterans,  and has greatly improved the lives of military men and women.
