Defendant Acquitted In Home Invasion Murder

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) _ A 20-year-old New Haven man has been acquitted of all charges in the 2011 slaying of a 23-year old musician and bicycle mechanic.

Tashaun Fair hugged and thanked his legal team and family for their support after the verdict was announced Thursday in New Haven Superior Court after two days of deliberation.

Fair was charged with felony murder and home invasion in the death of Mitchell Dubey, who was shot to death in front of two roommates on March 24, 2011.

Dubey’s housemates and visitors who witnessed the shooting were unable to identify the shooter, who had a T-shirt over his lower face and was wearing a hooded sweatshirt.

Prosecutors relied on the evidence of a witness who testified he acted as a lookout while Fair went into the home.
