No Jail Time In Fake Bomb Case At Middle School

An East Hampton man charged with placing a fake bomb outside East Hampton Middle School in January has been sentenced to probation and community service and ordered to pay a $1,500 fine.

21-year-old Sean Doran pleaded guilty to one count of intentionally conveying false or misleading information and a hoax in connection with placement of the device.

In January,  custodians at the school found a 12-by-8-by-4 inch box, taped together with orange and red duct tape, with an egg timer on top, outside the building.  It did not contain explosives.  Surveillance video captured Doran placing the device shortly before 2:00 a.m.
