Quite the birthing story for a Middletown couple.
Early Friday morning around 3 a.m., on the shoulder of Interstate 91 North near exit 27 in Wethersfield with rain pouring down, a father made the decision – it was raining too hard and there wasn’t enough time to make the hospital.
So he pulled over and called 9-1-1 and got 27-year veteran Connecticut State Police Dispatcher Paula Freeman on the other end. She’s helped in the delivery of two births over the phone in the past; make that number three as Rian Madison Walker was born in that vehicle to mother and father Curt and Natalie Walker.
They eventually made it to the hospital. The baby’s doing well and the plan is to head home this weekend.
