NORTH BRANFORD, Conn. (AP) _ House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi is appearing at a North Branford forum to learn about challenges women face in the workplace.

Pelosi is scheduled to join U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro and women from across Connecticut on Friday at the event dubbed, “When Women Succeed, America Succeeds: An Economic Agenda for Women and Families.” The forum is being held at the Pennsylvania Globe Gaslight Co.

Pelosi and DeLauro are expected to hear about women’s experiences seeking higher pay, trying to achieve a work and family balance, and the impact of quality, affordable child care.

DeLauro’s office estimates that almost half of all workers are women in the U.S. and 40 percent are their families’ primary breadwinners. Women, especially those who are unmarried, are still considered to be the most economically insecure.
