STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Some NHL stars are in Stamford to help raise money for a charity that grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses.

Greenwich native Cam Atkinson of the Columbus Blue Jackets is helping run the Keep Hope Alive festival at Old Town Hall. It benefits the Marty Lyons Foundation.

Other hockey players, including stars such as the New York Rangers’ Dave Maloney and Martin St. Louis of the Tampa Bay Lightning will be on hand along with Lyons, a former defensive lineman with the NFL’s New York Jets.

Lyons began the foundation in 1982 to honor a child he knew who passed away from leukemia. It has since granted more than 6,000 wishes to children.

The event, which also features entertainment, games and food, runs Friday from 7 to 10 p.m.
