Tomorrow there will be a ceremony to remember a little girl who went missing in Tolland 40 years ago.
Janice Pocket rode her bicycle alone for the first time July 26, 1973 and never returned home.
Those with the town’s 300th anniversary committee wanted to do something to remember Janice.
There will be a dedication of a bench in her honor at seven p.m. at the Cross Farms Recreation Complex in town.
Committee member Sharon Hiller says the case gained national attention at the time.
Hiller says originally, someone confessed to kidnapping Janice but the person’s story never panned out.
Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman and other local and state officials are expected to be on hand.
Hiller says private donations helped with the costs of the bench.
She says the case is still open and active all these years later.
