A West Hartford woman is the ninth person charged in a scheme in which prescription drugs were charged to the Medicaid program and sold illegally on the street.  44-year-old Lee Probulis is charged with conspiracy to unlawfully obtain a controlled substance and conspiracy to make a false prescription.

The Chief State’s Attorney’s Office says Probulis received prescriptions written by former Plainville doctor Richard Luzietti,  filled the prescriptions and billed Medicaid,  then sold the drugs to Luzietti and another suspect in the case, Cyril Pham,  who illegally sold them on the street.

Luzietti was convicted last year.  Pham was arrested in May.  Prosecutors say more arrests are expected.

The case is being prosecuted by the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit in the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney.
