Mother Charged With Trying To Strangle Baby Due In Court
BEACON FALLS, Conn. (AP) _ A 23-year-old Seymour mother is due in court, charged with attempting to strangle her 8-day-old baby in the middle of a Beacon Falls street.
Ashley Donovan was arrested July 16 by Seymour officers responding to a domestic disturbance call.
Seymour Lt. Paul Satkowski told the New Haven Register that the woman was yelling out comments about God and Satan and began choking the baby.
The officers were able to wrestle the Donovan to the ground and get the infant away from her. The baby was treated at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford, and released to the custody of the father.
Donovan was scheduled to appear Tuesday in Derby Superior Court on charges including second-degree strangulation. It was not immediately clear if she had hired an attorney.
