University of Connecticut linebacker Yawin Smallwood has been named to a fourth preseason watch list for college football awards.

UConn says Smallwood, a junior,  is among the candidates for the Walter Camp Football Foundation Player of the Year Award.  The list will be narrowed to 10 semi-finalists in November and announced in December.
Former Yale athlete and coach Walter Camp is sometimes called “The Father of American Football.”  The Walter Camp Foundation is based in New Haven.

Besides the Camp award,  Smallwood is on preseason watch lists for the Bronko Nagursky Tropjy, the Bednarik Award and the Butkus Award.
