The heat has prompted the city of Hartford to take additional steps to ensure the safety of spectators at tonight’s Riverfest fireworks and at the Greater Hartford Jazz Festival this weekend.

Mayor Pedro Segarra says free water will be available during the Riverfest fireworks and cold water stations placed outside the XL center for the Justin Bieber concer tonight. Cooling tents will be erected for the jazz festival.
