On Thursday, the Wallingford Police Department Narcotics Unit served an arrest warrant on Matthew McAuliffe, 21 of Wallingford, for Sale of Narcotics (Heroin) and Possession of Narcotics.

Narcotics Detectives saw McAuliffe in the area of South Colony in Wallingford. When they identified themselves McAuliffe ran from them and a brief struggle ensued in the middle of South Colony Road stopping traffic before McAuliffe was finally taken into custody.

McAuliffe tried to discard 20 bags of Heroin that he had in his possession at the time of arrest. He was additionally charged with Possession of Narcotics WITS, Possession of Narcotics, Possession of Narcotics Within 1500 Feet of a School, Interfering with an Officer and Tampering with Evidence.

McAuliffe is currently being held on a combined $100,000 bond for both sales cases and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on July 31st.
