WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) _ A 2-year-old boy is in critical condition at a hospital after being found unresponsive in a pool at a Waterbury home.

City police say the boy and his parents were visiting a home on Glenstone Road Wednesday evening and several people went swimming. The boy was found unconscious in the pool at about 6:30 p.m. after people went inside the house and his parents noticed he was missing.

Authorities say the boy’s parents pulled him from the pool and performed CPR. He was rushed to St. Mary’s Hospital and later flown by helicopter to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford.

The boy’s name hasn’t been released.

Police are calling the incident an accident.
