A van driver has been arrested, after the vehicle he was driving struck an 82-year-old woman on Park Street.

The woman was critically injured.

Police Lieutenant Brian Foley says Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been called in to investigate the van driver’s immigration status.

“He is in the country illegally. He is undocumented, and did not have a driver’s license, and was charged accordingly,” Foley said. “ICE is going to conduct their investigation separately, and the state will investigate the car accident.”

The crash took place outside a grocery store.

Police found the driver inside the store.

The collision was recorded on security video.

Police say the grocery store’s parking lot is a problem area.  They say they have contacted city zoning officials about it.
