Three Charged In Plainfield Kidnapping Prank

PLAINFIELD, Conn. (AP) _ Plainfield police say they’ve arrested three people for staging a prank kidnapping that startled witnesses and pulled some officers away from a standoff situation in another part of town.

Police say two men were seen tying up a woman with tape near a convenience store off South Main Street Tuesday morning, putting her in the trunk of a car and speeding away.

Many officers were at the scene of a standoff with a man barricaded inside a home when some of them were called away to the reported kidnapping. The standoff ended peacefully.

Police charged 21-year-old Danny Vinal of Plainfield, 22-year-old Mark Reasoner of Plainfield and 19-year-old Harley-Jane Davidson with misdemeanor breach of peace.

They told reporters that it was all just a joke and they meant no harm.
