BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) _ A Bridgeport man has been charged with five counts of attempted murder for allegedly shooting at police officers during a fight inside a city nightclub. None of the officers was injured.
Police arrested 18-year-old John George on Saturday night at the German Club on Horace Street while responding to a large fight. Authorities say George opened fire when officers tried to subdue him after they noticed he had a handgun tucked in his waist band.
George is detained on bail and is expected to be arraigned Monday at Bridgeport Superior Court. It’s not clear if he has a lawyer.
Police also arrested a club promoter for allegedly allowing juveniles to enter the over-18 party.
