There is a new game in town, it’s called “Winners and Losers”, but it’s no fun. We have all watched the “Malloy Supremacy’s” First Five program, where large multi billion dollar companies get tax payer funded grants and small businesses get new taxes, like the Bridgewater hedge fund. But, there is another aspect to this hurtful game of winners and losers, it’s the impact of the hospital budget cuts. On one hand the big winner has been Jackson Labs , the mice factory, recieving a $300 million taxpayer funded grant to open in Connecticut with the promise of creating 300 jobs, 10 years from now, (yeah right that will happen) and they will be jobs for our kids and grandkids. But, what is really disturbing are the job lossses related to the hospital cuts. Every week another hospital announces job losses, directly related to the budget cuts; So far over 500 jobs will be lost and that total increases on a weekly basis. The projection is thousands of job losses for Connecticut families.
Winners and Losers

Do the math, $300 million for a research facility for 300 promised jobs , 10 years from now balanced against budget cuts of well over $300 million resulting in thousands of job losses in Connecticut. “Winner and Losers” it’s a costly game to the families of Connecticut. It’s no wonder we are the ONLY state in the country to have 2 years of negative economic growth.
