Illegal Fireworks Seized

The State Police Fire and Investigation Unit seized illegal fireworks and explosives in an investigation which covered two shoreline towns.

West Haven Police,  after conducting surveillance based information from StatePolice say they watched an illegal fireworks sale take place,  then seized fireworks and about  $2,000 cash.  The seizure included both “display”  fireworks,  which are classified as explosives,  and “consumer”  fireworks.

That investigation also led police to Madison,  where police and the fire marshal seized another cache of fireworks,  both display and consumer.

Arrested in West Haven were 28-year-old Luigio Zaccariello of West Haven and 43-year-old Robert Crisco of New Haven.  Police say Crisco is a New Haven firefighter.  Madison police took 54-year-old Matthew Hagen into custody.  State police planned to destroy the seized fireworks.
