The New England Patriots are offering a free exchange of jerseys next weekend for anyone who purchased #81 jerseys at the Patriots Pro Shop or PatriotsProShop.com. The jerseys may be exchanged July 6 and July 7 for any other jersey, only at the Patriots ProShop at Gillette Stadium.
Number 81 was the jersey number of Aaron Hernandez, the former Patriots tight end who was charged this week with murder.
Team spokesperson Stacey James says children might not understand why their parents don’t want them wearing the number 81 jersey.
The shop is open 10:00 a..m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday and 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, with only one exchange per person.
