EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Two small children have been hospitalized after a tree fell on them outside their home in East Hartford.

Family members tell WFSB-TV (http://bit.ly/11HlKmm) that 1-year-old Za’Nya McWillie and 3-year-old Gyrel Sinclair were riding tricycles Tuesday afternoon when the tree fell in their front yard, pinning them both.

Family members say Za’Nya the suffered a skull fracture and a serious eye injury. They say Gyrel also was seriously injured.

The tree destroyed the porch of the family home on Whiting Road. Other children playing in the yard escaped injury.

The tree fell as a thunderstorm moved through the town.
