Four Charged In Sledge Hammer Beating

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) _ New Haven police have arrested four city residents in the beating of man with a sledge hammer outside a local diner.

Police tell the New Haven Register  the March 9th fight outside Cody’s Diner erupted after a group of men allegedly made unwanted advances toward a woman at a nearby club.

They say the victim suffered serious head injuries when he was struck with the hammer and a liquor bottle.

He survived, but police say he has not fully recovered from his injuries.

Twenty-three-year-old Antonyo Streater and 21-year-old Cedric Shepard are charged with assault and conspiracy to commit assault.

Twenty-two-year-old Stephen Outlaw and 24-year-old Lynwood Dorsey are charged with conspiracy to commit assault.
