BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) _ The husband of a Connecticut woman who vanished in 1984 is going on trial for allegedly offering a $100,000 bribe to a state judge to get him to influence a grand jury investigation into his wife’s death.

The trial for 77-year-old Dominic Badaracco of Sherman is set to begin Monday in Bridgeport Superior Court.

He has pleaded not guilty to bribery.

Mary Badaracco was 38 when she disappeared. Her body was never found.

Her disappearance was classified as a homicide in 1990, but a one-judge grand jury finished an investigation last year without charging anyone in her death.

An arrest warrant in the bribery case says Dominic Badaracco was considered a suspect in his wife’s disappearance.

Authorities say he offered Superior Court Judge Robert Brunetti the bribe in exchange for influencing the grand jury judge.
