Body Recovered in Farmington

A body  was recovered from the Farmington River behind Tunxis Mead Park in Farmington Monday evening.A passerby noticed the body and contracted police about 6:30 pm.

Farmington Fire and Tunxis Hose Fire were conducting training nearby  and were able to recover the  body from the  water.

Police believe it is the body of  25 year old Nasir Alam of East Hartford,one of seven tubers tossed into the fast  moving river last Tuesday. Alam was the only one who did not get out of the water safely.

The body has been taken to the Office of the Chief State Medical Examiner for positive identification and a determination of the cause of death.
