Million Dollar Tax Fraud Uncovered

A Hartford man and a Newington woman are charged with an attempt to claim more than a million dollars  in state income tax refunds intended for other people.  Commissioner of Revenue Services Kevin Sullivan says it’s the largest attempt in more than $10 million in fraudulent refund claims his department has uncovered:

23-year-old Orlando Ramos of Hartford and 27-year-old Katherine Fernandez of Newington are charged in the scheme.

Since it’s a criminal case,  the tax department is not giving many details of how the crime played out.
