An 18 year old Torrington man is in protective custody at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital and is facing kidnapping, robbery,drug and weapons  charges .

Torrington Police received a report late  Monday night  about  a missing, endangered  and  suicidal  person.18 year old Joshua Ballard’s  last known address was 127 Mundry Road .

Unable to locate Ballard all night Winchester and State Police went to  127 Mundry Road,Ballard’s grandparents home  and found him inside,. He was unwilling to come out.After about  two hours  of speaking with Ballard on the phone he came out without incident.

It was learned Ballard is a convicted felon and had held  a female friend  at gunpoint Monday night, while he was in crisis. A .357  revolver was recovered.It was the weapon police say Ballard pointed at  the friend as  they drove around Torrington and Winsted Monday night. Police also recovered a roll of  duct tape, packaging twine , a utility knife and marijuana  in Ballard’s bag.

Ballard is being held in lieu of  $500,000 dollars bond and is due in Bantam Superior Court Wednesday.
