Arrest In Norwich Police Shooting

State Police today arrested a man who was shot by a police officer in Norwich last year.

Gino Nicasia had locked himself in a car in a parking lot at Backus Hospital, where his mother had brought him, because he was hearing voices.

A state investigation found that the officer acted properly, when he shot the Norwich man.

The state report found that Nicasia drove a car towards the officer, striking his right hip, as the officer pushed Nicasia’s mother out of the way, and opened fire at the car.

Nicasia is charged with assault on a police officer and interfering with a police officer.
